The student must be proficient in reading, speaking, and understanding English and must provide a government-issued picture ID and Social Security card for certification. Prerequisites: Student must be able to pass a backgrouned check, have a high school diploma or GED, and a current CNA card with six months work experience as a CNA, and have a current TB skin test.

This course prepares students to provide direct patient care in a long-term care nursing facility. This 80-hour course includes instruction in mental health, social needs, hygiene and safety. Students who complete the course are eligible to take the state CNA certification exam. The cost of the exam is included in the course cost.

Students are required to wear scrubs (any color or print except red) and closed-toe shoes for the clinical portion of this course.
